Hi all! It's been a while since writing a blog post. I'm doing great! Working really hard on building my Plexus business and painting like crazy! I had a follow up with my surgeon last week and everything went really well. All is good! It has been a year since finding out I had cancer and I've been cancer free since October. I am FREE!! I thought I would put my year into a video to recap it all. You all have been wonderful and supportive and I greatly appreciate each and every prayer! Watch this video to get the scoop...Read More
Hi All! I'm so happy to say I am now more than halfway through with radiation, and I'm feeling great! The only thing that I notice is that I'm needing a little extra sleep. Otherwise, I'm kickin' butt! I am so excited to be on track with all of this. I have 13 more treatments as of today and if I don't miss a day I will be finished by the end of the year, which was my goal.
Great things are happening! My hair is growing in (not sure what color it is yet), my eyebrows are back and I have little tiny eyelashes sprouting. Of course, hair is growing back everywhere else as well, which means I have to shave again, but that's OK, I'll take it!Read More
Hi All! I just finished radiation treatment #12, which leaves 22 more to go. It's flying by! It is also the week of Thanksgiving and as much as I want to share videos and photos of my radiation treatments, I’ve decided to let that go until next week and focus this post on a couple of other things, feeling good and being thankful.
Every year we all sit down around the table with family and friends and indulge in savory casseroles, a big glorious bird and lots of sweet and succulent desserts. Giving thanks with family, enjoying food and having fun is a wonderful thing and is definitely worthy of the day we set aside each year to celebrate thankfulness.Read More
Hi All! Today was radiation #3. That leaves 31 to go! So far so good. I'm still feeling great and loving life!
I really like my Radiologist Oncologist and the sweet gals who do my treatments. Everyone in that office is super nice and they make me feel at home. Once again I feel blessed.
Have you ever wondered what it's like to get radiation? Well, I sure did and now I know. The experience itself is quite simple and quick, takes only a few minutes. Of course I have to deal with a 40 minute drive each way, but the treatment itself is a piece of cake. Once I get there I just walk on back to "the room", strip off my upper half, get situated on the machine where my special pillow is waiting for me and then get zapped....Read More
Hi all. Yesterday I met with my newest doctor, my Radiologist Oncologist Dr. Huddleston. I really like him and can’t believe that I’m finally at this point, radiation. Here’s a quick recap of my journey:
1. I had my yearly mammogram April 23, 2014. They found a mass and took a biopsy of it.
2. I received a phone call on April 24, 2015 informing me it was cancer, 5 days before closing on our home in Tennessee and moving to Alabama, where we knew no one.
3. We moved to Mobile, which was not where we wanted to be, into temporary corporate housing, which turned out to be a huge blessing! There we found an amazing group of doctors and nurses that I will be forever grateful for.
4. I had my port implanted May 24, 2015....Read More
